Stand still for one second and someone will bump into you, side step you or look at you like you are breaking a sacred rule. Sidewalks in New York function like highways with legs.

People walk fast, so stopping suddenly can cause a mini traffic jam.

New York City has its own rhythm, its own rules and its own version of normal.

What seems strange everywhere else feels perfectly natural to the people who live there.
